City Connects is an innovative and evidence-based approach to addressing the out-of-school factors that can impact students’ achievement and thriving in schools. Currently implemented in over 90 schools across six states, this comprehensive intervention collaborates closely with districts, schools, and partnering community agencies to connect every student to a tailored set of supports and enrichments in the school and community. City Connects, housed at the Center for Optimized Student Support at Boston College, seeks a full-time Senior Researcher to join its evaluation team. The Senior Researcher will play a role in research and evaluation study design, statistical analysis, data organization and maintenance, and interpretation and reporting of results. The position involves collaboration with a multidisciplinary research team.

The responsibilities of the Senior Researcher are to:

  • Contribute to the design of evaluation and research projects and to the selection of analytic methods
  • Conduct statistical analyses for evaluation and educational research
  • Produce detailed written documentation and annotation for analyses
  • Contribute to maintenance of large data files and development of analytic data sets. Produce periodic summaries and reports for various audiences, including academic audiences, boards of research advisors, and school personnel
  • Contribute to the development of grant proposals
  • Collaborate on conference presentations and manuscripts for publication

Qualifications
Required:

  • Ph.D. or Master’s degree with three years’ experience in the field of statistics, educational research, economics, or related field
  • Advanced proficiency in using SPSS, STATA, R, or similar statistical software · Experience in the use of evidence for causal inference
  • Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office software
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks

Desired:

  • Technical proficiency in quantitative program evaluation and/or computational statistics for data management
  • Experience collaborating with a research team
  • Experience in project management
